The former West Mugirango MP James Gesami has seconded what former Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama said on a burial service in his home county on Thursday where he urged Uhuru not to cling to power in 2022.
Speaking on Friday morning at a funeral service in Gekonge sub-location in Bokeira ward, Gesami said that Muthama was right on his opinion as he urged Uhuru and other leaders to be so wise and step down when their tenure of leadership expires and give room for others who may have different ideas to transform a nation.
"I would like like to second what former Senator Muthama said leaders should not cling to power in 2022 so that they can give room for other leaders to vie for the seats and thereby exercising democracy at large, Muthama's opinion is not badly off as per to my view on it," said Gesami.
He also went ahead to urge the leaders on power to leave behind a good legacy and also try to follow the footsteps of other previous leaders who tried to exercise democracy in our country.
"It will be better if we will follow the footsteps of our preceding leaders who did not cling to power and let others exercise democracy, the likes of former USA president Barack Obama and even our Mwai Kibaki. They set a record and also left a good legacy behind," added Gesami.
