Education Cabinet Secretary Prof George Magoha has come up with a task force that will undertake an investigation into the collapse of a classroom wall that left seven pupils dead and several others injured at Precious Talent School on Monday.
According to a report by the Standard Digital, the task force consists of officers from the county government, Ministries of Education, Interior, Health and local leaders.
The Kenya Red Cross which has been overseeing the rescue mission since morning will also present its report and findings to the CS who has since confirmed that indeed the school had been registered and had a total of up to 800 pupils.
Magoha's move comes shortly after he directed the pupils at Precious Talent School to stay at home until next week.
Members of the public had also called for action to be taken against various stakeholders such as the school management and contractors of the classroom buildings.
Kenyans who took to social media to express their condolences to the bereaved family also questioned the presence of the pupils in school at 6:45 am yet the official reporting hour are supposed to be around 8:00 am, which the CS also touched on.
“We have office hours for the children and everybody must comply with whether in public or private schools,” Magoha stated.
