Kisii County Government is working closely with development partners to spur economic growth in Kisii County, Kisii Deputy Governor Joash Maangi has said.
Speaking during a Stakeholders Consultative meeting at Ufanisi on Tuesday, Maangi disclosed that Kisii Municipality has been ranked among the top municipalities in the organizational structures to implement projects under the Sustainable Urban Economic Development (SUED) Programmes.
"SUED has developed the Urban Economic Plan to sensitize Municipalities how to prioritize projects that will accelerate growth, maximize returns to the local communities, attract investors for critical infrastructure and value chain projects, generate jobs and create wealth. As a County Government, we are collaborating with these development partners in order to spur economic growth in Kisii Municipality," he stated.
He assured that the county government will offer necessary support to development partners to ensure there is accelerated growth in the county.
"We will stand firm to midwife this programme to make sure we achieve the set goals and benefit not only Kisii Municipality but to every corner of this great county," said Maangi.
Sustainable Urban Economic Development (SUED) program is funded by the United Kingdom's department of International Development (DFID).
The programme aims at supporting 12 fast-growing municipalities in Kenya to develop sustainable urban development economic plans for critical infrastructure and value chain projects.
