Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga has laid bare details of the illness that rendered his daughter Rosemary Odinga partially blind for two years.
This is after Rosemary, who accompanied her dad, for a Christmas service at the Nyamira ACK church in Bondo on Wednesday, said she has fully recovered and can fully see again.
The former Premier said news that her daughter had been diagnosed with brain tumour hit him with pain, and it was a painful view seeing her go into a comma for over a week.
He said what followed was trips to hospitals in search of treatment, trips that began at the Nairobi Hospital and later to other countries.
"It was painful to see my daughter go into a coma for more than a week and the many trips we made in and out of hospitals," he said.
He said it was in China that she was diagnosed with brain tumour.
Raila added that his wife Ida Odinga stopped all her operations to stay with Rosemary when she was in South Africa.
Rosemary termed her recovery a miracle, recalling how painful it was for her to suddenly not be able to see her children.
"It was very challenging. I am used to living a certain lifestyle where I am very independent. Suddenly, I couldn’t see my children and my parents. It wasn’t easy but I thank God for the miracle,” she said.
