Deputy President Dr William Ruto hit out at those criticising him for moving around the country.
Speaking on Sunday after a church service in Dagoretti, the country's second-in-command toltold off his critics, saying that he knew how to do his job as the deputy president.
"Tuwachane na hi siasa kidogo kidogo. Mimi nataka kuwaambia wale ambao wanasema sijui deputy president ameenda wapi, kwani hao wanajua kazi ya deputy president? Wawachane na mimi. Mimi nafanya ile kazi nilichaguliwa na Wakenya nifanifanye. Kwani mimi nimechakuliwa kufanya kazi ya kupika chai? (We should stop engaging in petty politics. I want to tell those criticising me for moving around the country, do they know the work of the deputy president? They should leave me alone. I am doing the work I was elected to do as the deputy president. Was I elected to cook tea?)," the deputy president said.
DP Ruto has come under vicious criticism in recent days, especially from allies of ODM party leader Raila Odinga, for engaging in 2022 presidential politics, saying it is too early for that.
On his part, the deputy president has maintained that his visits to various parts of the country are in keeping with his job description.
