His body, the family said, will be flown from Kisumu on Friday in a chopper to Sironga grounds, several kilometers from his Bosamaro ancestral home and Kerumbe farm.

After viewing, there will be short speeches from family and friends before he's ferried on road to Kerumbe farm, 20 kilometers away from Sironga.

Businessman and Guardian Angel owner Rodgers Moturi said the body will stay at home overnight until Sunday when the main burial will be held.

"There will be viewing at Sironga given that not everyone will get a chance on Sunday to pay him last respects. He is an icon and we are happy with the progress so far."

Mr Mogeni became the first entrepreneur to set up a private tea factory in Gusii region, which rivals Kenya Tea Development Agency's factories.

Since 2014, the factory has been home for thousands of farmers. Early this year, Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua termed it a 'worthy investiment'.

Senator Okong'o Mogeni, who is directly related to the deceased, said the family is ready to host thousands who will turn out for funeral.

"We are ready to host those coming. So far, everything is in order. We expect thousands on Sunday. The burial will however be limited to family and friends," he said.
