Renowned lawyer and socio-political commentator Steve Ogolla has claimed that veteran football McDonald Mariga does not live or vote in Kibra.
Steve Ogolla appeared to mock the candidature of Mariga, saying that the former footballer's decision to throw his hat into the ring smacked of foolish confidence.
"PUT DIFFERENTLY, Mariga does not live in Kibra, does not vote in Kibra. But wants to lead Kibra. Now that, right there, is the confidence of a fool," Steve Ogolla's tweet read.
The blistering tweet just days after Mariga was cleared by the ruling Jubilee party to fly its flag in the Kibera parliamentary contest.
He continues to face tough questions around his suitability to represent the people of the constituency.
His implacable detractors have pointed to his apparent inability to articulate issues with some saying that he did not use his position of privilege to help the people of Kibera, scores of whom who struggle with abject poverty.
Mariga on his part has said that he lived in the constituency and his decision to run for the parliamentary seat is informed by his desire to give back to the society.
There have been claims that he was influenced by Deputy President Dr William Ruto to run for the parliamentary seat.
He has strongly denied that he was influenced by anyone let alone the DP, saying that the decision was a personal one.
