The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party has conceded defeat in the just concluded by-elections in Ugenya and Embakasi South constituencies.
ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna took to social media where he admitted that the party had faced a tough day at the ballot.
In the Ugenya by-election, Movement for Democracy and Growth (MDG) candidate David Ochieng won the election after defeating ODM's Chris Karan.
In Embakasi South Wiper Candidate Julius Mawathe garnered 21,628 votes defeating his rival ODM's Irshad Sumra who got 7,988 votes.
"We had a tough day at the ballot. The entire ODM Party team put in their best effort but we have come up short in both Ugenya and Embakasi South. I thank all those who turned out to stand with our candidates and the Party. We do not take for granted that you remain loyal soldiers of the movement. We promise our supporters to do better as always. We will make no excuses. We will learn. We will rise. Congratulations are in order to Hon Mawathe and the Wiper Party and to Hon. David Ochieng for a spirited campaign," posted Sifuna.
