The Amani National Congress (ANC) party Secretary General Barrack Muluka has said that Deputy President William Ruto’s incessant attacks on ODM leader Raila Amolo Odinga are actually meant for President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Speaking during an interview on NTV on Tuesday, Barack said that the second in command is sending a strong message to the President as 2022 approaches.
He noted that Ruto, who is considered one of the front runners in the race for power, is used underhand tactics to communicate with the commander in chief of the armed forces.
“DP Ruto's blows to former Prime Minister Raila Odinga are actually proxy blows, intended for President Uhuru,” he said.
He also said that President Uhuru decided to work with Raila as a way of shielding himself from the attacks he saw coming. Muluka said that Uhuru foresaw problems ahead and decided to seek Raila’s support to ensure he completes his second and final term in office in peace.
“President Kenyatta saw what was coming and knew that he needed to carry on peacefully. The handshake has helped combat the domestic tsunami,” he said.
Ruto and Raila have been firing salvos at each other in recent days. Ruto over the weekend labelled Raila the Lord of Poverty and promised not to let him get anything once Uhuru leaves the office.
