Speaking on Saturday, Nguna denied holding two passports as alleged by activist Okiya Omtata. He termed the allegation as baseless propaganda being spread by his political nemesis.

The MP disclosed that his parents live in Greece and he goes to visit them and that shouldn't create a perception that he is a Greek citizen.

"I’ve worked with international companies, and by virtue of that lived outside Kenya, but I never sought dual citizenship. The fact that I visit my parents in Greece quiet often doesn’t mean I am a citizen. I want EACC to hasten their investigations into the matter," he said as quoted by Daily Nation.

On Thursday, EACC announced that investigations had begun against lawmakers suspected of holding dual citizenship.

Among other legislators suspected of holding dual citizenship include Yussuf Hassan, Aden Duale, Mohammed Garane, Sophia Abdi Noor, Haji Ali, Jane Kihara, Mohammed Duale, Ledama Ole Kina and Susan Kihika.

These lawmakers risk losing their seats if it's proven they contravened section six of the constitution.

According to the constitution article 78(2) on citizenship and leadership, a state officer or a member of the defence forces is not allowed to hold dual citizenship.
