Jubilee nominated Member Parliament Maina Kamanda has claimed that leaders from Central Kenya region may support Interior Cabinet secretary Fred Matiang'i for the Prime Minister position.
This is according to reports which further indicate that the legislator commended the CS for the work he had don under the Jubilee government.
Maina Kamanda was speaking during a rally in Kisii county on Friday. The rally was meant to draw support for the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report.
Kamanda called upon people from the Gusii region where Matiang'i comes from to support the CS for the PM post.
"Even the work done by cabinet secretaries from Central cannot be compared to that of Matiang'i," Kamanda stated.
The BBI report has recommended for the creation of the Prime Minister post.
The BBI brought came after the handshake by President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga. Matiang'i, on the other hand, praised the two for putting their differences aside and creating unity in the country.
"This is the first time we are sitting as the people from Nyanza region to engage in one direction," Matiang'i stated.
The CS also urged Members of County Assembly (MCAs) to help in rallying up support for the report.
"Every MCA should hold a congregation in villages to discuss the BBI report at the grassroots," he added.
