Over 700 students at Moi University are set to miss the August 22, 2019 graduation as their names are missing on the graduation list.
A group of the affected students came out to claim that some of their lecturers knowingly refused to forward their marks as they were pushing for the pay and allowances.
Students from the School of Business and Economics were the most affected in this incidence.
In Moi University Nairobi Campus, it is said that a group of students (almost 500) had to gang up and contribute some amount for a lecturer to forward their marks.
Unfortunately, the students could not be included in the graduation list as the senate had already sat and approved the names to be included on the graduation list.
“We have all the even whatever you see marks, and here is provisional marks that qualify me that should be graduating. This is our 7th year studying a course of 4 years,” lamented one of the affected student.
The students have blamed the university over negligence and assuming them.
The exclusion from the graduation list made some of the students to travel to the university. They camped outside the administration demanding that their names be included into the list.
However, Moi University’s Public Relations Officer Patricia Cherambos came out to rubbish off their claims stating that they have huge fee balances and missing marks.
"We want to urge them to prepare for the December graduation, let them sort their issues early and they will eventually graduate,” said Cherambos.
