Suna East Member of Parliament Junet Mohammed has said that the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) is rooting for a Prime Minister with some powers as opposed to a skeleton one.
Speaking on Wednesday during an interview with on KTN, Junet said that the party is fully behind the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report but wants the Premier to have some powers to enable him/her discharge duties effectively.
"ODM Party’s stand is such that it could like to have a Prime minister with some powers to run the country and not a skeleton Prime minister," he said as quoted by KTN in a tweet.
Junet, who is also ODM's Director of Elections further said that he supports the calls for a referendum because the BBI report represents views of Kenyans.
The lawmaker said that the BBI taskforce did its part and now leaders should back the report fully.
"The BBI taskforce collected views from the people of Kenya and they are the ones who will have the final say on this document," he said.
Junet further said that Raila Odinga has the will of Kenyans at heart and that he is strongly behind ideologies that will make life better in one way or another.
