The Eldoret High Court has ordered the main suspect in the murder of a police officer in Eldoret to be detained at Langas Police Station for three days.
According to Deputy High Court Registrar Grace Sitati, the move will pave way for the prosecution to conduct further investigations into the case.
“The prosecution side has requested the court to give them three days to carry out investigations since the suspect was arrested in Nakuru trying to escape after allegedly committing the crime,” said the deputy registrar.
“The court, therefore, grants you three days as requested for you to complete the investigations. The case will be mentioned on September 23, 2019,” she added.
Joshua Ogachi is alleged to have stubbed Robina Moraa to death. The officer was found murdered in her house in Annex within the outskirts of Eldoret Town on Thursday, last week.
The deceased was attached to the Naiberi Police Station before her death.
Ogachi was nabbed on Saturday at the Rift Valley Provincial General Hospital in Nakuru, where he had gone to seek medical attention, after what the police believe to be a suicide attempt.
The suspect is reported to have attempted killing himself by ingesting poison. He was taken to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret for treatment.
