The government has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring insecurity in Baringo is addressed.
Speaking on Wednesday when he paid a courtesy call at the Nakuru Kenya News Agency offices, Rt. Colonel Cyrus Odhiambo Oguna revealed that the Government is putting in measures to ensure there is security in the county.
While noting that the area has had challenges of cattle rustling, the government spokesperson stated that the mechanisms in place will ensure security and development.
“The Government has put in place measures to ensure that there is security in Baringo and other areas that have had challenges. We know very well that security is paramount for development,” said Oguna.
He also expressed the need for communities living in Baringo to shun retrogressive cultures that are derailing government efforts in ensuring security in the area.
According to Oguna, some of the insecurity cases are brought about by retrogressive cultural practices that do not add value to society.
“There is a need for the communities in Baringo and insecurity prone areas to abandon the retrogressive cultures that in one way or another contribute to the insecurity,” he said.
The government spokesperson further said the State is putting in place measures that will ensure crucial government information reaches the public at the grassroot level.
He says the move is in line with the constitution in regards to access to information.
