A 75-year-old man in Kiambu was on Friday arrested for allegedly planting bhang in his home compound.
Gideon Maina from Gakoe village was rounded up and arrested by officers from Kamwangi Police Station after a tip-off from the public through the Nyumba Kumi initiative.
After searching his compound, police discovered a seedbed of bhanga together with over over 200 plants of the prohibited crop.
According to residents, Gakoe has been selling the plant to school-going children since he came to the village from Muranga about three years ago.
Speaking after the arrest, area OCPD Reuben Muli disclosed that his officers will be more vigilant in the future while dealing with similar cases.
