The traditional wedding is anticipated to attract guests from different walks of life.

The ceremony will go down at the Kiamugumo Primary School in Gichugu, Kirinyaga County. The couple has asked all guests to confirm whether they will be present for easy planning by June 30.

The ceremony, which is known as “ngurario”, in Kikuyu involves a meeting of relatives from both sides. The county boss and the lawyer conducted their dowry payment ceremony on February 16. On the day of the wedding, Waiguru’s partner will accompany his parents and other people to her home.

They will, however, not be allowed to enter the compound. At the home, elders will perform a tradition known as “kuhura hoti”. Women from the lawyer’s side will start singing from the gate while carrying gifts to Waiguru’s parents. The door will then be opened before the groom can access the place.

The lawyer will be expected to recognise her from a group of women clad in the same outfit. After a series of traditions, the couple will be given a wedding certificate.
