Ruaraka member of parliament T.J Kajwang' now wants by-elections to be held in Kibra every two years.
Speaking to members of the press on Thursday, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) legislator explained that holding the polls every two years would bring money to the constituency's residents, brought by those keen on bribing voters.
He expressed his gratitude to those who gave the residents money so that they could vote in a particular way.
T.J Kajwang', who is known for his controversial statements, said that the constituents would not allow their conscience to be bought.
"I urge those people who bring money to Kibra to bring some more. You have fed us well but you can't buy our conscience. There should be by-elections in every 2 years in Kibra so that we can relieve some of your pockets which have too much money, " the Ruaraka MP said.
His words came on the day that the residents are flocking to polling stations to elect former member of parliament Ken Okoth's successor.
The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) to which the Ruaraka MP belongs, has expressed confidence that it will retain the seat.
The seat has attracted the interest of major parties including ODM, Amani National Congress (ANC), the governing Jubilee party and the Wetangula-led Ford Kenya.
There had been claims bandied around that the Jubilee Party was bribing voters, a claim that has been rubbished by the party's candidate McDonald Mariga.
