The two suspects who are yet to be identified were corned at Nyaikuro, Manga in Nyamira County.

Confirming the arrests, Nyamira County Commissioner Isaiah Nakoru said the public reported the suspects to police leading to their arrest.

"The suspects were drinking beer at a local bar when they paid a bill of Sh1,000 using fake money. Immediately before they left the bar, police were notified and arrested them. They are currently being held at Manga police post," he said.

The county security boss urged residents to be on high alert to report anyone circulating fake money.

He assured that the suspects will be arraigned in court to be charged.

"Fake money amounting up to Sh4,000 was recovered from the suspects. Police will use the fake currency as an exhibit to charge the two men in court," he added.

Nakoru reiterated that police have intensified security patrols across the county during the festive Christmas season.

"Nyamira residents should not be afraid of their security since we have police officers in good numbers to tighten security across the county during the Christmas celebrations," he said.
