Orange Democratic Movement party leader Raila Odinga has yet again defended his friendship with President Uhuru Kenyatta, arguing that it's meant to benefit all Kenyans.

Mr Odinga joined hands with Uhuru in 2018 March after protracted political campaigns that saw Uhuru's victory nullified by Supreme Court.

Speaking in Gem on Friday, Odinga insisted that his partnership with Uhuru has nothing to do with his economical life, adding that he had saved enough during his working days.

Mr Odinga said he's keen to see all Kenyans benefiting from government thus his decision to work with Uhuru for the sake of people.

"My political friendship with the President is not for my personal gain but for all Kenyans," said Raila.

"What hurts me is the suffering of my people. Our children were born in this suffering, grew up in it and works in it. Our people are hardworking and they never want to beg. I do not want anything as Raila, I just want Kenyans to benefit, “he added.

Raila was appointed as African Union High Representative for Infrastructural Development in 2018 October, something which is linked to his truce with Uhuru.

He has been subjected to criticism by a section of his former lieutenants with Canadian based lawyer Miguna Miguna accusing him of receiving favours from Uhuru.
