Dogoretti North MP Simba Arati has mocked Deputy President (DP) William Ruto over claims there was a plan to assassinate him.
Arati said the arrest of digital strategist Dennis Itumbi, who is a close aide of the DP, over allegations of authoring and circulating an alleged fake letter exposing the murder plot, was proof that Ruto was behind the whole saga.
Speaking during a press conference in Nairobi on Thursday evening, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) legislator said by coming up with a fake story detailing his killing, Ruto was just like 'committing suicide', which is a criminal offence.
Arati took a jab at Ruto, saying he is an important person, who won't be allowed to 'take his own life.'
“As Kenyans, we cannot accept a person of the stature of the DP ‘to commit suicide’. We will stop him through all necessary means. We will ask the police to be on the lookout so that we do not lose an important person. Suicide is a criminal offence and one can be taken to court,” stated Arati.
Speaking at the same presser, Kwale Women Representative Zulekha Hassan also took a dig at the DP and asked the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) boss George Kinoti to go the bottom of the matter, since Ruto's life was in 'danger'.
“A little spark can have a lot of consequences. It is an embarrassment on an international scale that the DP’s life can be in danger,” said the Woman Rep.
