Multiple sources told a local publication that Governor John Nyagarama is lobbying for his wife to run against the county MP in 2022.

The reports were confirmed by one of Mrs Nyagarama's aides who said the Indian-educated First Lady of ready for the duel with Mrs Momanyi, a former teacher.

"The fact is that she will contest in 2022. She has put everything in place and you'll see her running for the seat. Nothing will stop her," he said.

Mrs Nyagarama's step-son, one Sam Nyagarama, dismissed claims that his family cannot be elected again to power, arguing that only 'God knows people's plans'.

But according to Mrs Momanyi, she will be ready for the Titanic battle, adding that the people of Nyamira will have an opportunity to chose the best.

She insisted that the people of Nyamira will judge her based on the work she has been doing, adding that she's not scared of anyone in the contest.

"I am not scared. It's an open race and let the best win. For now, I am busy serving the electorates. That's what our people need and not premature politicking," she said on Monday.

Mrs Momanyi, who has since ditched Dr William Ruto's camp, is a close ally of Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang'i. She beat Alice Chae of ODM in 2017.
