The county governmen of Machakos under the solid waste management department collected the garbage on Wednesday evening.

Residents had complained of full bins that were dirtyfying the environment.

Due to the heavy rains being experienced, the bins were producing a bad smell and murky waters.

The residents were worried that there would be spread of diseases due to the piled garbage.

Commenting on the issue, Matungulu sub county administrator Peter Mutungi had earlier told Hivisasa on phone that he was aware of the situation and it would be fixed.

"There was a small hitch that's why the garbage hasn't been collected but it will be collected in no time," Mutungi said.

He said the collection would be done throughout the sub county and residents shouldn't be worried.

"Let the residents not worry we are aware of the situation and we are working on it," he said.
