Residents of Kirima village in Timboroa, Uasin Gishu county were left in shock after a 35-year-old man decided to climb a high voltage electricity truss and threatening to commit suicide.
The incident happened on Wednesday around Timboroa forest along Nakuru-Eldoret highway.
According to reports, the man identified only as Ndung'u wanted to kill himself due to frustrations. Apparently Failure to find love and financial constraint sent him to the poles.
Ndung'u said that he had been unable to secure a wife for himself not to mention a job to sustain himself.
To him, the only way out was to cut short his life. Concerned residents tried to convince him to get down from the pole but their pleas fell on deaf ears.
"Come down lets head home," a lady was heard pleading with him.
One of the residents identified as Zachary Ombori narrated that this was not the first time the man was threatening to kill himself.
By the time of reporting the man had not gone down from the pole. Suicide cases in Kenya have recorded a rise according to the World health organisation.
Between 2008 and 2017 the suicide cases rose by 58 per cent and out of 421 cases 330 involve men.
