A 42-year-old woman was sexually abused and murdered on Monday night in a building housing two Non-governmental organizations where she also worked as a a support staff.

The body of Caren Anyango who worked for the Community Initiative Action Group (CIAG-K) and Transparency International (TI) was discovered at her office.

She is reported to have been residing at a room in the office complex of the building together with her son who was not around at the time the of the murder.

According to the police, Anyango was gang-raped before being hit with a blunt object and stabbed severally. 

Absalom Oketch who is the brother of the businessman who owns the building was the one who discovered the body and reported the matter to the police.

Chris Owalla, an NGO director claimed they were still not aware of what had led to the brutal murder of the woman.

“It was grisly. We still do not know what happened and why this lady was murdered in this manner. It is disturbing. She was a good, disciplined worker,” he stated.

The assailants also stole three laptops from the office.

County Criminal Investigations Officer Kipkorir Towett  pointed out that the killers broke into the building while the caretaker was on call.

“They had broken into the building when they realised that the caretaker was making phone calls so they broke into her room and beat her,”  he stated.
