Led by Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala, the leaders on Thursday dared those opposed to the meeting to keep off as they have said.

Malala, who was flagged off by Orange Democratic Movement Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna, said that the 12 lawmakers who have threatened not to attend the meeting are free to do so at their own volition. He argued that no leader has been forced to attend the meeting.

This is after the leaders accused Central Organization of Trade Unions (Cotu) Boss Francis Atwoli and Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya of spearheading the agenda of ODM leader Raila Amolo Odinga.

Malala has since asked the leaders to act as per their wish, adding that nothing will change even if they do not attend the said meeting.  The senator said that the region has more than 40 Members of Parliament.

“Western region has over 40 MPs and a few of them cannot purport to take a position for the entire region,” said senator Malala.

The other leaders who were present are Makadara MP George Aladwa, Godfrey Osotsi (Nominated MP), Elsie Muhanda (Kakamega Woman Representative), Florence Mutua (Busia Woman Representative), Nominated Senator Getrude Musuruve and Naomi Shiyonga (Nominated Senator)
