According to the owner of the hotel located at Bus Park area, the rowdy group suspected to be fans of the Kenya Premier League side Gor Mahia caused mayhem in the joint, breaking and destroying everything they could lay their hands on.

Pauline Akwacha noted that they as well terrorized her staff, some of whom were injured and rushed to hospital.

Confirming the incident, Kisumu OCS Boniface Mutie said that his team has since launched investigations into the matter.

The fans were reportedly irked by a delivery vehicle which they said blocked the entrance, turning their anger to bottles, glasses, tables, and seats.

Akwacha added that it was a double loss for her as other customers who were enjoying their meals also took off when the melee erupted.

Gor Mahia was in the town for its last league match against Mathare United, where the club was crowned the 2018 league champions for the 17th time.

The match, which was played at the Moi Stadium ended up in a 2-2 draw and was attended by among others, opposition leader and the club patron Raila Odinga.
