The Central Organisation of Trade Unions (COTU) Secretary-General Francis Atwoli has said that the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) will help heal Kenya.
Speaking to Citizen TV's Jeff Koinange on Wednesday, Atwoli maintained that the initiative will be a success.
“BBI will be a success for Kenya….It will be one way of addressing what has been ailing Kenya," Atwoli observed.
His sentiments come after the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) advisory task force officially concluded its assignment on Wednesday.
The 14-member team was formed after President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga chose to end their political rivalry on March 9, 2018, in a deal popularly termed 'handshake'.
“The Building Bridges for National Unity Advisory Taskforce held its last formal sitting on 23rd October 2019, to make a final assessment of the completed report. The task force has the privilege to inform Kenyans that this important initiative has been completed," read part of a statement by the team’s joint secretaries Amb Martin Kimani and Paul Mwangi
According to the task force, the report is ready to be handed over to President Uhuru Kenyatta. However, the contents of the report are yet to be made public.
