Five Chinese nationals were on Tuesday arrested in Nakuru's Free Area, over alleged involvement in illegal gambling.
Addressing the media, Nakuru County Police Commander Stephen Matu said a total of 169 gambling machines were recovered from a house rented by one of the suspects.
The machines were confiscated after police raided the house, following reports from members of the public of suspicious activities at the residence.
“We received a tip-off from an informer at about 4pm, that some Chinese were doing illegal business of assembling gaming machines and we swung into action and arrested the five suspects,” Matu said as quoted by Nation.
“We don’t know how the machines landed in Nakuru after clearance in Mombasa because gambling is banned in Kenya,” he added.

The authenticity and validity of the travel documents confiscated during the arrest is, however, yet to be established.
“We are yet to confirm whether the documents are fake or genuine as the suspects could not speak English,” Matu said.
