Residents of Keore in Kitutu Chache constituency in Kisii County are living in fear after the body of an unknown man was found dumped by the roadside on Tuesday.
Confirming the incident, Kisii Police Commander Martin Kibet said the body of the man was found lying at the roadside at Gomba area along Matongo-Keore road.
"Members of the public who found the body alerted police officers from Nyakoe who rushed to the scene only to find the body of the man lying by the roadside. The deceased had visible injuries on the neck an indication that he was strangled to the death elsewhere before his body was dumped at the area," Kibet stated.
The body of the deceased was taken to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital morgue as a probe commence to establish the motive behind the killing.
He said area residents could not identify the deceased since he does not hail from the area.
"No member of the public was able to identify the body. Identification of the body will be done at KTRH morgue. Residents with their loved one missing should visit the morgue to identify the body," Kibet noted while assuring that security will be tight across Kisii County during the festive season.
