Three people died on Sunday while one sustained serious injuries following a road accident along the Nakuru-Dondori-Lanet road near the Kenya Defence Forces barracks.
Confirming the incident, Nakuru Sub-County Police Commander Elena Kabukuro said the accident occurred after a motorbike collided with a saloon car.
Kabukuro said the motorbike which was heading to Nakuru was speeding during the 5.30pm accident, adding that it was overloaded with four passengers.
The police commander said the speeding motorbike was swerving on the road before it collided with the saloon car killing three people.
The motorbike rider and two of his passengers died on the spot. Police officers noted that they recovered bottles of alcohol at the accident scene.
Transport along the busy road was temporarily paralysed following the incident.
“The motorbike was heading to Nakuru from Dundori side. It was carrying four passengers. The motorbike rider and two of his passengers died on the spot while the third victim was rushed to the Nakuru Level 5 Hospital,” said Kabukuro as quoted by the Daily Nation.
The bodies of the accident victims were taken to the Nakuru Sub County Hospital Mortuary.
