Elgeyo-Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen has dragged his Baringo counterpart Gideon Moi to a story published by a local media house on Monday.
In a story published by one of the dailies, President Uhuru Kenyatta allegedly snubbed DP William Ruto at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on Saturday, when he jetted in from Zambia.
But Murkomen, in a tweet, accused Mr Moi, whose family has links to the said media house, of sponsoring the story with intentions of undermining the DP.
"Yesterday after a public function at Nyandarua DP proceeded to visit his friend Mzee Ole Muyaa in Kajiado.Around 6.30PM he left Kajiado for Nairobi. Meanwhile HE Uhuru Kenyatta jetted back at around 5PM. Now see how my colleague Gideon Moi has reported.Pettines &desperation," he said.
Earlier, Murkomen had his scheduled interview at KTN cancelled. He also claimed that Senator Gideon Moi influenced the decision.
Sources claimed that President Uhuru Kenyatta was unhappy after a number of MPs allied to Ruto, among them Laikipia Woman Representative Cate Waruguru, trolled him over sacking of Treasury CS Henry Rotich.
“Today, we are looking for enough evidence on Arror and Kimwarer dams without which we are not going to accept the charges against Mr Rotich. We know there are 28 people who are being coerced to testify against him,” she claimed.
“We summoned Matiang’i to the parliamentary committee on land to answer questions on his alleged involvement in the illegal sale of Ruaraka school land to an individual. My friend, Matiang’i knows what happened. There is someone who is not telling Uhuru the truth,” she added.
While the reports claim that Dr Ruto was abandoned at VIP section after Uhuru chose to use ordinary terminal, Ruto has since dismissed the news as fake.
"FAKE NEWS ALERT!!! I was nowhere near JKIA. I am NOT surprised that some media houses & their owners are this desperate. Tuwasamehe tu!!" The DP's tweet read.
