Thirdway Alliance Party Leader Ekuru Aukot has distanced himself from the Building Bridges Initiative
In a tweet on Friday, Aukot said that he is not ready to be considered part of the team behind the report after it emerged that there are plans to include him in the team tasked with the implementation of the same.
The politician said that the Punguza Mzigo Initiative was fought from all ends because it was not a brainchild of the political big wigs in the country.
He further said that he is independent-minded and would not want to buy other people’s ideas at all. He was responding to the article on the Standard, BBI could set up a political team ahead of the referendum.
“Let the record reflect that 1. I'm not part of BBI, and 2. We all agree that #punguzamizigobill2019 was the best idea for Kenya and it was fought only because it wasn't theirs #PMK,” he tweeted.
The article indicated that co-secretary to the BBI team, Paul Mwangi had raised concerned after the delay to gazette the extension of the term of tenure for the group.“I am aware that the President said the term of the BBI team will be extended, but I don’t know when the gazette notice will be done. Until and unless that is done, it will be premature to talk about anything,” said Mr Mwangi.
