Kiambu governor Ferdinand Waititu has suffered a huge blow after 5 county staffs resigned.
Chief Officer Faith Njeri Harrison who had just been reinstated close to two weeks ago and five others in the department resigned after a fall-out with the governor due to payment of pending bills among other things.
The five, who are the director of accounting services, his deputy and three accountants tendered their resignation letters on Tuesday citing frustrations from governors' office which could not make them execute their duties properly.
This comes after the county enforcement officers raided the Finance department in Thika on Monday and 'chased out' the officers while Ms Harrison was moved to Trade docket.
Waititu replaced Njeri with Public Administration Chief Officer Wilson Kinyanjui who was heading the Kaa Sober initiative that was meant to fight alcoholism in Kiambu county while Ann Muchai was tasked to be the director of Accounting Services. Eda Kabuithia was given the treasury docket.
When contacted by Daily Nation on Wednesday, Njeri confirmed their resignation declining to reveal the inner part of what made them quit the county jobs where she just said it was only for the good.
Reliable sources from the executive, however, revealed that the county staff annoyed the governor by not paying the companies possibly from his cronies and instead paying other companies pending bills.
Waititu who is on EACC radar for allegedly siphoning millions of taxpayers money in the county had earlier said that the changes were only to improve the Finance department docket.
