Former Mukurwe-ini Member of Parliament Kabando Wa Kabando has hit out the Tanga Tanga group after Jubilee Party candidate in the Kibra parliamentary by-election McDonald Mariga was disqualified from the race.
Mariga, who is former Kenyan international footballer, was kicked out of the contest after Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) found out he was not a registered voter.
Kabando accused the Tanga Tanga of attempted electoral fraud for bulldozing their way to have Mariga vie when he was not qualified.
The ex-legislator, who is allied to Kieleweke, asked the Deputy President William Ruto-led faction to apologize to the soccer star and mocked them to convert their group into a political party.
"We loudly cautioned that Mariga wasn’t “real” Jubilee Kibra candidate. #Tangatanga should apologize to Mariga, country for attempted electoral fraud. Convert Tangatanga into your party, ‘sabotageUhuru’-‘insult-Raila’ (as)your manifesto!" he tweeted on Tuesday.
Following the announcement to lock Mariga out of the race, Lang'ata MP Nixon Korir has said they are going to appeal the decision which he termed as 'disappointing'.
"We are very disappointed people. It does not matter when he registered, the IEBC should ensure he is in the register. A Kenyan should not be denied the right to vote or to be voted for. We will file a case against the IEBC and in seven days will have the verdict," Korir said.
