Speaking at AmLive Show on NTV, the outspoken legislator noted that the idea of demonizing the lawmakers should stop as it is not true.

"I took that mortgage, now if you look at my payslip it reads 640 shillings after," he said

This comes at a time Kenyans and other legislators have ganged up against Members of the National Assembly and Senators who want to be given night allowances.

A total of 416 MPs and Senators have come up with a new scheme termed as the 'Domestic Subsistence Facilitation' that will see them pocket between Sh18,200 and Sh24,000 per night if approved.

During the same meeting, former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale attacked the MPs for their celebrity mentality. He accused them of wanting to live big at the expense of the people who elected them.

He warned that if they are allowed to go ahead with this mentality, they will go ahead to ask for choppers as their means of transport within the country.

"Members of Parliament you have a celebrity mentality. This should not be the case at the expense of the taxpayers who are already overburdened," he said.
