Orange Democratic Movement party leader Raila Odinga on Friday described former Nyaribari Masaba MP Dr Hezron Manduku as a quiet leader who never loved confrontational politics.
Recalling when they were first elected in 1992, Raila said Dr Manduku was calm despite being in government and never used to intimidate opposition.
At that time, Dr Manduku was serving as Foreign Affairs assistant minister in retired President Daniel Moi's KANU government, which was accused of dictatorship.
"Manduku was a quiet and sober government official. I first knew him through Oburu Odinga. They were studying in Moscow. He respected other people," he said.
But the ODM leader caused a moment of laughter when he painted Kitutu Chache North MP Jimmy Angwenyi as a confrontational leader.
"He wasn't like Jimmy. Jimmy could kick someone. There is a day he saved Speaker Francis Kaparo when opposition MPs were almost beating him up. I don't know how he did it," he added.
Mr Angwenyi has been serving in Parliament since 1996 when he took over from Zachary Onyonka, the father to Richard Onyonka, Jimmy's one time opponent.
The ODM leader asked Kenyans to emulate Dr Manduku, who he said was instrumental in promoting health sector in the country through his Hospital.
