Deputy President William Ruto on Friday hosted a section of local leaders from Kibra and Nairobi county at his Karen residence ahead of the upcoming Kibra constituency by-election.
The main agenda of the meeting was to drum up support for Jubilee's Candidate McDonald Mariga who will be battling out with other candidates in the mini-poll which is scheduled for 7th November this year.
"Hosted a delegation of grassroots leaders from Kibra constituency and elected leaders in Nairobi county to drum up support for the Jubilee candidate McDonald Mariga, Karen Residence," DP Ruto announced on Facebook.
The meeting comes at a time when the ruling Jubilee party is divided over Mariga's bid as section of leaders in the party led by nominated legislator Maina Kamanda have vowed to support ODM's candidate Imran Benard Okoth.
The division in the party over Mariga's ambitions have continued to be witnessed even after Jubilee party leader and President Uhuru Kenyatta endorsed Mariga for the seat.
Ruto and his allies have however vowed to ensure that the former soccer star clinches the seat which is expected to be a hot political contest.
Kibra constituency parliamentary seat fell vacant after its immediate former lawmaker Ken Okoth succumbed to cancer in July this year.
