Kisii Jubilee youth leader Isaac Motari has defended Education Cabinet Secretary Prof George Magoha's decision to name Prof Isaac Mbeche as the acting Vice Chancellor for the University of Nairobi (UoN).

Isaac Motari while speaking at Gesero market on Sunday reiterated that Mbeche if fit to lead the university due to his tremendous experience.

"I wish to confirm that Prof Mbeche is fit to run the affairs of the University of Nairobi as the Vice-Chancellor. Gusii leaders should stand firm and push for the confirmation of Mbeche to be fully appointed as the Vice-Chancellor for the institution," said Motari.

The vocal youthful leader said Mbeche who hails from Bonchari constituency in Kisii county should be given a chance to lead the institution. 

He appealed to politicians who he said are divided to unite and ensure Mbeche is not removed from the position. 

 "This is the time we should defend one of our own. As youths from Kisii county, we call upon our long-serving leaders to unite and push for Mbeche's confirmation. It is now or never. As Abagusii community, we have all it takes to have Mbeche serve in his position as this will help to advance the name of our community," he noted.

Prof Magoha while revoking the appointment of Prof Stephen Kiama as the UoN VC named Prof Mbeche to the position in an acting capacity.
