The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has suspended nineMatatu Savings and Credit Co-Operative (SACCOs) after they failed to comply with the regulations of the government in their areas of operations.
NTSA cracked the whip on Monday thereby leading to the closure of the businesses amid uproar from different quarters of the country.
The Transport operators will no longer operate in different parts of the nation after they failed to meet the requirement of owning at least 30 serviceable motor vehicles are required by the NTSA management.
According to a report shared by NTV on their YouTube channel, the affected SACCOs are City Tram, Mwamba, Marvelous, MNGN, Fig, Moonlight Coach Company, Mwirona, Huruma MiniBus and Transafaris.
NTSA also asked all operators in the transport sector to abide by the safety regulations failure to which they will not be allowed to offer their services.
In the past, different stakeholders from the transport sectors have lamented that the authority has been making critical decisions in regard to their operations with involving them in the same.
They have been asking the government to protect them against different forms of mistreatments and hazards in the sector for the sake of their success. The operators now claim it has become hard for them to operate because of the endless crackdowns on the roads.
