Langata Member of Parliament Nixon Korir, who is also the chairman of the Mariga campaign, has said that the governing Jubilee party is ready to hit the campaign trail in Kibra.
Speaking moments after the Conflict Resolution Tribunal of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission rendered its verdict, Mr Korir said that there is nothing that would stop the former Harambee Stars player from featuring in the KIbra contest.
He hit out at those raising questions about the eligibility of Mariga and his age.
"As the chairman of the campaign team, we are ready to campaign Kibra... We have seen some people saying Mariga’s ID and certificates do not match. We are wondering, are they the ones who match the IDs and certificates? ” he said.
Questions about the footballer's eligibility continue to consume public discourse.
There are those who contend that the Jubilee candidate faked his age in order to play top flight football.
They contend that the issue of allegedly faking documents touches on issues of integrity and should be used to disqualify the former footballer.
A petitioner is seeking to have Mariga disqualified from the Kibra race in the law courts over the age issue.
The Jubilee candidate has, by and large, avoided questions touching on his age
