National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi has asked Jordan to back Kenya’s bid for a non-permanent seat at the United Nations Security Council.
Muturi made the appeal when he held a meeting with Speaker of Jordan’s House of Representatives, Atef Al Tarawneh, and the President of the Senate, Faisal Alfayez.
During their meeting on Thursday morning, the leaders said that they will consider the idea of backing Kenya’s request at the UN.
Muturi also said that Jordan and Kenya share cordial ties, adding that they are ready to continue working together for the sake of economic growth.
“We further underscored the need to fast track our pending agreements so as to enhance our people-people interactions. I have also urged H.E. @AymanHsafadi for Jordan's support on our bid for a non-permanent seat at the UN Security Council for 2021-2022,” he said.
Muturi also noted that the cooperation between the two nations is good for the economic and political progress of the nation in the coming years.
“We welcome this aspect of Parliamentary cooperation. Indeed, the understanding between Parliaments promotes the collaboration between the two countries that are collaborating,” Muturi noted.
