Speaking at his office when he met with the clergy and the leadership of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kenya (ELCK), South West Diocese lead by Bishop-Elect Reverend Joseph Omwoyo Ombasa, Maangi assured that the devolved unit supports churches across the county.

"I wish to reiterate that the county government of Kisii has been working closely with church leaders across the county. No church leaders have been neglected because the church is a strong pillar in the society," he stated.

Maangi urged the members of the clergy to continue praying for peace to prevail in the country during this time the heated debate over the Building Bridges Initiative report is ongoing.

According to Maangi, the clergy should not be used by politicians to spread hatred to worshipers in their churches arguing that the church should be at the front line championing for peace, unity and harmony.

"I wish to challenge members of the clergy to distance themselves from politicians who may be out to use them to spread propaganda with the aim of getting political mileage," Maangi noted.
