There was drama at Nyangena village in Nyamira County on Tuesday evening after a man publicly denied being responsible for the pregnancy of his wife.
Richard Aganya, who works as a matatu driver along Kisii-Nakuru route said his wife Hellen Nyanchama was not carrying her pregnancy.
"My wife has been sleeping with other men outside the wedlock. I am not responsible for her pregnancy. She is trying to drag me into it yet I have been away for work for 4 months now," he said.
Angered Aganya threatened to behead Nyanchama if she will continue telling villagers lies.
"I married her with 1 kid and I can't take any of her lies anymore. She is free to leave my home before I harm her," he said.
However, Nyanchama defended herself saying she had sex with Aganya for a whole week in the month of June.
"He is trying to boycott responsibility. He is the one who has impregnated me. Trouble started when I demanded money from him to go to clinic for a checkup," she said.
An elder, Peter Nyabuto said efforts by villagers to have the couple reconcile didn't give fruits.
"We tried to have Aganya and Nyanchama reconcile in vain. We could not force them to stay together," said Nyabuto.
The elder said Nyanchama was asked to leave for her parents' home because her husband rejected her in broad day light.
