In an exclusive interview with K24’s Anne Kiguta, the second in command confirmed that he has talked about the issue with President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Ruto, who is considered one of the frontrunners in the race for Presidency, didn’t, however, disclose the contents of his discussion with the commander in chief armed forces.

Kiguta questioned whether there are forces in government planning to end the life of the DP before he ascends to power.

"As you sit before the entire nation this evening, there is one question on every Kenyan's mind. Do you believe that there are forces within the government, in which you lead and serve, that are planning to assassinate you?" Ms Kiguta posed.

In his response Ruto said that President Uhuru Kenyatta, who is completing his second and final term in power, is fully aware of his security concern, adding that he is not ready to shed more light on the same.

"The matter that you have asked is a matter I have discussed with my boss and it is not for discussion outside me and my boss," he answered.

Ruto’s allies have been asking the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to fasten probe into the matter.  Ruto, who is considered one of the front runners in the matter, has been coy to respond to the issue whenever asked about the same.
