President Uhuru Kenyatta should urgently unite opposition leader Raila Odinga and Deputy President William Ruto, Kalenjin elders have said.
For months now, the two have been at loggerheads, a move which threatens President Uhuru Kenyatta's race to cement his legacy as a statesman.
Both Raila and Ruto have often gone ballistic against each other, with analysts linking their onslaught to 2022 polls.
Led by James Lukwo, the elders on Monday said the animosity between the two is not welcome to the country and the president should intervene.
"There is still a problem. Those two factions are at loggerheads. Why can't the president intervene and unite them? Let him meditate. We want them to walk as a team," he said.
"We don't want them to continue quarrelling. We want a united nation. This cannot be achieved if they continue treading that route. We cannot have BBI when these two are fighting," he added.
Recently, Raila said he has nothing against Dr Ruto, adding that their differences are not personal as perceived.
The two worked together in 2007 polls before Dr Ruto bolted out for President Uhuru Kenyatta's camp in 2012.
Raila and Ruto are expected to face each other in 2022 even though the former Prime Minister has not yet declared interest for the seat.
