Fafi MP Abdikarim Osman Mohamed is calling on residents in Garissa County to come out in large numbers and be enumerated in the upcoming population and housing census.
Speaking on Thursday when he toured Fafi and Jarajila wards in Fafi Constituency, Garissa, Mohamed urged residents in his Constituency to participate in the exercise.
The MP who was accompanied by other leaders conducted a door to door sensitization campaign for the national exercise that will be carried between August 24 to August 30.
Leaders from the region had warned that drought facing pastoral communities may affect this year’s census as many have moved to other areas in search of pasture and water.
Mohamed urged those who have migrated to return home and availing themselves for counting.
“I have emphasized the importance of the census results and urged everyone to stay home and/or avail themselves at the existing settlements that were outlined during the mapping exercise. I have particularly asked the pastoralist communities to ensure that they were counted,” posted Mohamed on Facebook.
MP Mohamed also took the opportunity to interact with his constituents as he promised to address issues affecting them.
“The tour also gave me an opportunity to interact with my constituents and listen to their concerns,” he added.
The legislator was accompanied by CECM Mohamed Abdi Shalle.
