Last week, Dr Bosire, who has roots in Gusii region, accepted the governor's decision adding that she's ready to serve in the shaky regime of Sonko.

"It's a rare opportunity, I'll take it wholeheartedly. I am hoping that the assembly will clear me soonest. I am equally up to the task," she said in an interview.

Despite nominating five others to the cabinet, Sonko did not however nominate deputy governor despite earlier indication that he would nominate someone.

And a group of doctors now say Dr Stella would restore order in the health department in Nairobi, adding that her experience was much needed.

"She's very competent and I am sure she will deliver. I have worked with her and I can tell you for fact that she's a nice choice for Nairobi," said Dr Timothy Ombati.

On his part, Dr Dennis Nyambane said: "It's a good move because we are talking of a young person who is also competent. As her fellow medics and leaders, we support her wholeheartedly."

Dr Stella Bosire's father hails from Nyamira and the mother came from Central Kenya. She studied medicine in Italy despite her difficulty childhood.

She will be the third health Minister under the regime of Sonko following sacking of her two predecessors .
