In an interview, Nguluni Assistant Chief Virginia Onesmus confirmed the incident, adding that the man went to the shop on Monday evening but didn't get back home.

Virginia divulged that the man's body was discovered floating in a quarry by road users who raised an alarm.

"He had been given a thousand shillings by his son to pay for his decoder and went to find change, but didn't get back, only for his body to be found floating in the quarry today," she said.

"His wife had looked all over for him in vain, no one in the family had seen him," she added.

She said before his demise, the man was strong and worked in the quarries.

The area administrator urged locals to be careful and ensure their kids' safety since many quarries are full of rainwater, which pose danger to their lives.

"Let's look out for our kids who are home for holiday the quarries are full of water," she said.

The body of the deceased was taken to Kangundo level four hospital mortuary.
