As part of its messaging, drivers are required to switch off their engines and get out of their vehicles once they have packed them on the ferry.

"Drivers who are entering the ferry, kindly ensure you roll down the windows, switch off the engines and then get out fot your own safety.

(Madereva mnao ingia kwenye ferry hiyo tafadhali unapoingia kwenye ferry hiyo hakikisha kwamba unashusha vyo kwenye gari lako, ulizime na wewe mwenyewe ushuke kwenye gari hilo kwa usalama wako), " a female announcer can be heard saying in the background of a television interview at the Likoni Ferry Crossing. (4:24-4:36)

The improvement in messaging comes amid anger over why the occupants of the ill-fated car were not asked to get out of the vehicle once they rolled onto the ferry's deck.

Eye-witness accounts say that the woman engaged the reverse gear in panic, rolling the vehicle back into the sea.

There was no immediate response in spite of the car floating on the war for an estimated 20 minutes.

KFS has kicked off a recovery effort today, Tuesday, more than 48 hours after the ill-fated car sank.
